Comprehensive DACA Guidance by Texas Immigration Lawyers
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA is a policy that has been in existence since 2012. It is a form of prosecutorial discretion that provides protection to individuals inside the United States that were brought into the country as children.
In order to qualify, an applicant must have been under 31 years of age as of June 15, 2012, entered the U.S. before turning 16, have continuously resided in the U.S. since June 15, 2012, have been undocumented as of June 15, 2012, currently enrolled or high school graduate or honorably discharged veteran, and have not been convicted of certain disqualifying offenses.
It is important to note that DACA does not confer any sort of legal status. But, a grant of DACA provides the individual with protection from removal and employment authorization in two-year increments.
